Assistant Principal-Andrea Pyatt
Dear Umatilla High School Stakeholders,
My name is Andrea Pyatt and I am an Assistant Principal here at UHS. I have a wonderful family, a son who is always on the go and two dogs. I enjoy watching football, reading and going to Disney!
I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Health Services. After a rewarding career in healthcare as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist, I taught high school science for 8 years here in Lake County. While teaching, I also was learning and completed my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership in order to further help our students. In 2012, I transitioned from a classroom teacher to a Program Specialist where I used my experience as a classroom teacher in a Differentiated Accountability School to support students in schools in need of improvement. In 2014, I accepted the position to manage the implementation of a multi-million dollar grant and became the Innovative Professional Development Facilitator for our district leading the re-design of teacher and leader learning. I believe in a systems-thinking approach to supporting students and schools. My expertise lies in strategic planning, curriculum development and implementation, instructional best practices, managerial operations, and budget administration that enhances student achievement and learning experiences for students, teachers, and leaders.
In August 2017, I accepted the position here at Umatilla High because I felt confident that my leadership skills, knowledge and abilities were a perfect match for the vision and mission of our school. I strongly believe that all children can learn and be successful. I am able to conceptualize and use a forward-thinking approach to try to help all of our students every day. I am a learner and thrive on positive student interactions.
