Engineering and Technology Overview:

The purpose of this program is to provide students with a foundation of knowledge and technically oriented experiences in the study of the applications of engineering and its effect upon our lives and the choosing of an occupation.  The content and activities will also include the study of entrepreneurship, safety, and leadership skills.  This program focuses on transferable skills and stresses understanding and demonstration of the technological tools, machines, instruments, materials, processes and systems in business and industry.

Courses offered:

1.        Introduction to Engineering Design (SolidWorks CSWA)

2.        Principals of Engineering (Autodesk Inventor)

3.        Aerospace Engineering (TBD)

Student Performance: This course exposes students to the design process, research and analysis, teamwork, communication methods, global and human impacts, engineering standards, and technical documentation. Students will employ engineering and scientific concepts in the solution of engineering design problems.

College Readiness: Students will have the skills to; act as a responsible and contributing citizen and employee.  Apply appropriate academic and technical skills. Communicate clearly, effectively and with reason. Consider the environmental, social and economic impacts of decisions. Demonstrate creativity and innovation. Employ valid and reliable research strategies. Utilize critical thinking to make sense of problems and persevere in solving them. Model integrity, ethical leadership, and effective management. Plan education and career path aligned to personal goals. Use technology to enhance productivity.  Work productively in teams while using cultural/global competence.

3D Printing Opportunities:

Opportunity to work with 3D printers and create/model part designs and students' designs for 3D printing using the course design program.
