Umatilla High School has officially earned its first-ever "A" school grade, becoming the highest-performing traditional high school in Lake County with a record-breaking 682 points—the highest score ever achieved by a traditional high school in county history. At the 98th Florida FFA State Convention Umatilla's very own Drew Parkinson was elected to serve as the Florida FFA Area III State Vice President. Drew makes Umatilla history by being the first Umatilla FFA member elected to state office.
She will serve Florida FFA throughout the 2026-2027 school year.

Umatilla High School is proud to announce the hiring of Matt Prevesk as the next Head Baseball Coach for the Bulldogs baseball program. Prevesk will replace Tanner Clark, who recently stepped down after five highly successful seasons leading the program and establishing a culture of excellence that elevated Umatilla Baseball to new heights.
Coach Clark leaves behind a tremendous legacy of success both on and off the field. Under his leadership, the Bulldogs experienced sustained competitiveness, increased expectations, and tremendous growth throughout the program. Umatilla High School extends its sincere appreciation for his dedication and impact over the last five years.
Coach Prevesk brings an impressive playing background and a wealth of collegiate experience that will provide tremendous value to Bulldog student-athletes. A four-year varsity baseball player at Apopka High School, Prevesk continued his playing career at some of the highest levels of collegiate baseball.
He spent two seasons at the University of Florida, where he earned SEC Academic Honor Roll recognition and was part of teams that competed in the College World Series, including a national runner-up finish.
Prevesk then transferred to the University of Central Florida, where he played two additional seasons and earned Big 12 Honorable Mention honors. During the 2024 season, he led the team with 80 hits while posting an impressive .342 batting average.
In addition to his collegiate experience, Prevesk competed in several prestigious summer baseball leagues, including the Valley League in Charlottesville, Virginia, with the Winter Garden Squeeze in the Florida League, and with Martha’s Vineyard in the highly respected New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL).
Principal Brent Frazier expressed excitement about the future of the program.
"We are incredibly excited to welcome Matt to Umatilla High School and Bulldog Baseball," said Frazier. "Matt is a high-character individual with tremendous values and an extensive collegiate playing background. The experience he has gained and the network he has built throughout his career will be pivotal as we continue taking our program to the next level. We believe our players will benefit tremendously from his knowledge, leadership, and mentorship both on and off the field."
In addition to serving as Head Baseball Coach, Prevesk will also be joining the Umatilla High School faculty as a teacher, allowing him to build strong relationships with students and make a positive impact beyond athletics.
Coach Prevesk's combination of character, leadership, competitive experience, and passion for developing young people makes him an outstanding fit for the future of Bulldog Baseball.

The Bulldogs also earned a berth in the FHSAA State Playoffs and finished the season with a 19-9 record. Coach Clark was subsequently named the 2024 Lake & Sumter Style Magazine Baseball Coach of the Year.
In addition to the district championship, Coach Clark guided Umatilla to several historic accomplishments, including back-to-back victories over rival Eustis High School and multiple wins over larger Central Florida programs. His teams consistently competed with toughness, discipline, and pride while helping restore excitement and community support around Bulldog Baseball.
Coach Clark also played a major role in upgrading the overall baseball facilities during his time at Umatilla. Through fundraising, community support, and countless hours of work, the program transformed from a below-average high school facility into one that is now viewed as one of the top baseball environments in the area and comparable to many college-level programs.

Known for emphasizing character, accountability, and academics, he built meaningful relationships with student-athletes and worked to prepare them for success in life after high school. Before entering coaching, Coach Clark enjoyed a successful playing career at Lake-Sumter State College and the University of North Florida after graduating from high school in 2016. He also remained active in player development and summer collegiate baseball, recently joining the coaching staff of the Leesburg Lightning.
Coach Clark will continue his coaching career at Flagler College, where he will join the baseball program for the upcoming season.
